RAE Car of the Month
November 3, 2007Welcome to our first Car of the Month posting on RAE.
Our first jaw-dropping jewel to present is the 1946 Cisitalia 202 GT Car

The name “Cisitalia” derives from “Consorzio Industriale Sportive Italia,” a business conglomerate founded in Turin in 1946 and controlled by the wealthy industrialist and sportsman Piero Dusio.
Without argument, they do not make cars like this these days.
More than just raw beauty and power – there is a reason behind this car being the first to be incorporated on permanent display at MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York.
For further details – have a look at what information wikipedia has collected on this beautiful creature here
Designed by 2 legends in their field – Pinin “Battista” Farina and Giovanni Savonuzzi – this car was set to inspire many others that took shape after it.
RAE UNIQUE FACT:
Cisitalia’s founder Piero Dusio owned the Beltrame bicycle factory. They had a stock of small diameter steel tubes on hand which Savonuzzi simply bent and welded together to give shape to the grille you see on the front of the car.
